Disqus and outbrain talk to each other

Disqus-logo We just launched our first integration with Disqus, the popular comment system. You can see a live example here on Louis Gray’s blog. The integration is a blended widget that invites readers of blog posts to rate and or comment. Bloggers and publishers who currently use both Disqus and outbrain don’t have to make any changes to take advantage of this new integration as the two services work seamlessly together. Here at outbrain we think that feedback systems that can communicate and work together are a positive step for both readers and publishers. Here is a quick snapshot below. The word "comment" actually links to the Disqus comment box so a reader can log a comment immediately after reading the post.

In many cases the position of the outbrain rater at the footer of each post lifts the Disqus comment link higher than the standard Disqus integration which should be a good thing. If you are using either Disqus or outbrain separately, and want to take advantage of this integrated widget, simply go to the home page of the service you are not currently running and install it.  Upon installation, both Disqus and outbrain will detect each other and the integrated widget will appear on your blog automatically. If you are not running either Disqus or outbrain, simply install both services and the integrated version will automatically appear on your blog. Functionality will remain the same for both services, as the only change is a cleaner look and feel that invites readers to provide both ratings and comments when in feedback mode.  We hope you enjoy this new collaboration and look forward to some insightful feedback from readers and bloggers.
