Jobbing with WizzRSS and the new Blat Blog Platform

Outbrain is proud to be a part of Mike Kroger’s burgeoning
technology empire in South Africa. Mike
is the brains behind WizzRSS, which is the default Firefox extension rss reader
with a cult like following. In fact Mike
just announced a record breaking number of users on November 14th
this year. We have had the sincere
pleasure of working with Mike as he was one of the first rss readers to
integrate the Outbrain ratings system into WizzRSS.

But he is not stopping there as he has just launched a new
blog platform named Blat. Mike is using
the Wordpress MU platform as the backbone and will be adding more templates and
features soon. We are grateful that Mike
also included the Outbrain rating widget as one of the first plugins for his
fellow blatters. The blogosphere will be
a better place now that Mike is applying his skills to support content creation
as we should all look forward to some great posts from blatters on the red
continent. Way to go Mike, it’s been
great jobbing with you on these two projects.

Translation – *Jobbing* is a nickname for “working together”

  • Well, I hope no one notice that other meaning :-)
  • According to the American Heritage Dictionary, one of the English meanings for the word blat is - To utter without thinking; blurt ( http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/blat )
Google has a feed reader ?!?! Just kidding! ;)
  • I hope that he's addressing Blat Blog only for South Africa, because "blat" is having a negative meaning in Russian (it's used as "kus-emek" in Hebrew, but the letter meaning is even worse)... :-)
But it's great to see that more RSS readers embracing your rating widget. Although I'm still waiting for an official Google Reader support ;-)
